Gazart MTAV09 Artwork. Oct 2009

Gazart was a multi-disciplinary art project which culminated in a group exhibition. Gazart brought together a number of creatives from various disciplines and was thus an acknowledgment that through collaboration artists can find new and experimental avenues for their work. The exhibition works through a process by which various
individuals contribute whatever they can within their means to the process and the final manifestation. In this way Gazart embraces a DIY ethos on the part of artists.

Artists: Murray Turpin and Alex Vlacos

Medium: mixed media performance installation

Dimensions: 3m x 5m

Artists Statement:

Our aim was to create an interactive mixed media performance installation.
Combining techniques in design and fine art: camouflage construction and
contempory indigenous pattern design, traditional, modernist and post modernist painting, installation and performance IE.stenciling, paint layering and
action painting(with a paintball gun). Audience participation will be found
in "the hunt or the take aim section of the performance". The clues to the
hunt will be found in the sound design for the installation and the reveal
of the hunt was unveiled 30 minutes after the last paint bullet was shot.
It was basically a aesthetic based and non sensical inversion of the series
of events that my take place on a normal animal hunt or more specifically
a canned animal hunt and not forgetting a subtle comment on
environmental depletion and over looking there of for finacial
and industrial gain.
